No More Sunburns Or Farmer Tans!

We’ve all heard the debate about sunscreens. Yes they protect us from the sun’s harmful rays, but they are so full of chemicals is it even worth the risk? Not to mention I recently read an article about Rickets disease making a comeback due to the lack of vitamin D from all our hard work shielding our skin from the sun. It seems we just can’t win!

Well, I’m not worried about Rickets, but I am worried about UVA/UVB rays and sun damage, especially when it comes to my 3 year old son. But get out there and try to decide on a sunscreen and I’m lost. There are so many choices. You can narrow your choices by choosing a brand that isn’t chemical based. But I’ve been slowly making my way through those brands and haven’t found one I like.

Until, I read a great review on Adventure Tykes on ThinkSport sunscreen. You can read the review here.

I quickly ran out and picked up a bottle before our trip to Mexico and I am so pleased with it. It goes on easy and doesn’t look like I just dusted my son in chalk or dipped him in a vat of grease, it smells good, and it just plain works. But the best part? It has a safety rating of 1 on the Environmental Working Group websites database. The lower the number the better. I feel so much better knowing I’m not covering my son in chemicals every time I try to protect him from the suns harmful rays.

We spent a week in Mexico and 5 days at the cottage – we were in the sun all day, every day for 2 weeks and no sunburns!

If you are looking to buy ThinkSport you can check out their website & buy directly from them, or check out the ‘where to buy’ section, however it wasn’t up to date. I had the best luck just googling it and found it locally.
If you’re feeling lucky, make sure to enter the ThinkBaby giveaway over at Adventure Tykes! .

Here’s to summer & spending time outside! Hope you’re enjoying your summer!

I have a couple questions I was hoping you could answer for me if you have time. I am doing research and some people report noticing that they have become quite tan after using the product, but no sunburns. Have you noticed this in your child? I am thinking about purchasing this for myself, does it work well on adults? Lastly, does the product stick well after swimming or sweating? Thank you for your time!

    • Hi Penny, I have not noticed my sons skin is any darker than it was before I started using ThinkSport, that being said I do give him some time outdoors unprotected to make sure he gets his vitD (a very short time), but still haven’t noticed any tan. This product does stick well after getting wet, however it is recommended (as with most sunscreens) to re-apply after swimming or sweating. I cannot comment on the adult version as I haven’t used it.
thanks for commenting – please let me know how your research goes. And I do recommend checking out the link to Adventure Tykes review on ThinkSport also – she has been using the adult sunscreen and may be able to answer more of your questions
      thanks again!
